4KQ Calendar Shenanigans

Waking up early and heading to Brisbane with my car full of gear I was so very excited and honoured to be asked to photograph the 4KQ Calendar for 2015!

We got to the studio, and set up the green screen and lights ready for the team from 4KQ to arrive. Oh my goodness I was so nervous! These guy are the big league. Laurel, Mark and Gary, Shaun and the team are a great company to work with.

As we had already written a start board and a plan of attack for the day, the whole session ran smoothly with a lot of laughs and lollies ;)

We photographed some (very) yummy strawberry ice-cream from the ekka. wow. yummo - we may ave just had to eat some to check it was ok.

Have a look and see if you can see the characters we photographed (and I even managed to be in the clip :) !)

I am really happy that I am now able to show you some of the behind the scenes craziness that has been going on here.

you must have a really good power switch!

You know what, I'm not up for all the drama and bitchiness that this industry can harbor, Why is it that as soon as money and egos are involved, people turn nuts?  I do however need to run a business. It's not all flowers and rainbows. LOL we can't eat love. When you are paying for your product, you are not just paying for a piece of paper or usb stick,

You are paying for the countless hours of seminars we need to attend to keep out skills razor sharp, you are paying for the crazy insurance fees, upkeep of really expensive gear. Whilst I love helping friends out, I love doing a lot of volunteer work,  love doesn't pay the bills. I can't say to my electricity company - "I'm not going to pay you this month - but I really really love your electricity. I love how it turns my lights on - you must have a really good power switch what brand is it?" Um... just no.

We all have passions in life, and I am one of the lucky few that are privileged to be able to turn that passion into a business.

I look at my peers get so wound up at the thought of someone charging this for that, and think 'omg are you seriously so scared and insecure about your face value that  you are wanting to drag everyone down with you!?"  Sigh. for heavens sake, buck up. Look after your clients. Build your relationships.

Why should a client choose me? Well, I am me. It's as simple as that really. We are all individuals, and therefore no-one will have the same 'style' or business as me. I am relaxed, I love clean cut photos, I love connections between people. I love light. I love sharing.

Everyone is different, and that's ok. :) Its time to focus.

Where would one look to find something?

Where would one look to find something?

Under the bed!
In the freezer (haha don't laugh, I 'found' many things there when I was pregnant)!

Nope it's not there this time - d'oh.

Hmmmm.....

Like many of you, I am looking for my place in the world.

I love taking photographs! I love meeting with people! I love meeting with you, having a laugh and freezing time for you and your family.

Its the connections, the relationships between people that are so important.

I think that this is where I come in.

So many businesses are just that., businesses. Photography should be more. They can take an okay photo, but there is no connection. More than 'how much do you charge' more than numbers 'oh, i totally booked 6 clients this week' ' i shoot over 50 weddings a year'. It's not about big noting yourself and being all pompous.  It's not about the gear - lets face it 'everyone' has a camera these days.

You know what? I'm calling baloney.

Let's bring this industry back to the people. Let's make it real again. Let's band together and bring relationships back.

I want to showcase your family memories, the bond that sisters (when-they're-not-killing-each-other) have. The unique connection that mum's and son's have. The way a daughter can look into her daddy's eyes, and make his heart melt. The stillness in the chaos of family life between a husband and wife - knowing that they have each other's backs.

Through Desire Images (desireimages.com.au)  I yearn to allow women to blossom in front of the camera, I desire to give them even a glimpse of how beautiful they are - just as they are.

This is where I want to be in the world. This is my place.

Fathers day

Hey everyone!

Can you believe we're about to hit September?!?

For the month of September, let's celebrate our Dads.

Let's capture some memories together.
Do it for you. Do it for your kids.

Monday 5 May 2014

But Why?

Haha don't we get asked this question ALL the time?!

I know I do! I was asked why would I give my services away. Why would I give you a photoshoot?  Well, a couple of reasons I guess...

1. First and foremost - because I can. LOL, now that just sounds downright crazy!!
and
2. I want all families to be able to have lasting memories. I want you to be able to look back in a couple of years and remember this time in your lives. I want you to cherish the time with your family. We never know what is around the corner. I want you to have printed memories.

How often do you actually print the photos you take on your phone? How often do you print the photos from the USB's/ CD's in your draw?

Print your memories.

Freeze time.

SALE FREE STUFF

Haha Bet that got your attention!
I was talking to some people the other day, and I am listening to what you say.

Kate Green Photography is going to give you your photo shoot for free. Yes peeps, you heard me. I want you to have your family memories documented. I want you to be able to look back and see yourselves, your partner, your kiddies, and see how much everyone has changed.

You may feel that the timing is not perfect, you may feel you need to "loose that next 5kgs" but, well, what if that time never comes. What if you never get around to it? How important is it for our kids to see us as we are - in print? Lets freeze time guys, Just the way you are. right now.

Let me drop one barrier for you. Let me give you a photoshoot.

I know you will love having a photo all together.

You may sigh at yourself all you want, but seriously honey, this is important. This is a part of being yourself. I know I am learning not to be so critical of myself (in all honesty we all do it), but I don't want my kids to have the same self-image issues that I do. It is a fight with myself in the mirror - particularly when they are there with me. They need to see the good in themselves. We need to see it in us...

I can't change the way in which you see yourself -(although I would like to give you a glimpse of how we see and love you), but I can take one small financial barrier down.

Call or message me before 8pm Monday 5th May 2014.

Healthy Inspirations

In amongst all the craziness of the last few days, I received a call -
"Can you please fit us in this week?"
"Absolutely" I said "Can you come Wednesday?"

So this afternoon, I caught up with the team from Healthy Inspirations to take some photographs for brochures and head shots. It was fantastic to work with a team of people that knew what they were after! And it was even better to see you again after probably nearly two years Jamie!

Great photographic shoot. Great to work with the graphic designer that creates their material!

I am one very happy little chickadee :)

Sam and Chris' journey!

**happy dance**
I first met Sam at her brother's wedding 2 years ago. So it was such a privilege to be able to photograph her wedding to Chris on Saturday.

The picturesque wedding took place at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast.
Sam and the girls had all their details out waiting for me when we arrived
(we were so early - no traffic!!)

Doesn't she look beautiful!

The chapel at the resort is simply Devine. I can't think of a better word.  Stunning.

Our team of two photographers captured the happy day.

It was brilliant that Sam's parents created this LOVE sign. Haha awesome!

So much love and laughter as you start your married life together.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

Courtney and Matt's new adventure

The wedding between Courtney and Matt was such a fantastic day at Mick Schamburg Park. We had amazing weather for an outside wedding!
The decorations were put together by Ocean Beach Weddings. Wow!

Photographing all the little details are so important. Your wedding day goes so fast, it is hard to take everything in (that's why we are here)!

Our team of two photographers photographed all the events of their union.

From the very special bond between mother and daughter...

to the groom getting scrubbed up !

The photos show the joy of Courtney, Matt and their family and friends. Lots of laughter!

And taking a few minutes to themselves to take a breath. It all makes such a special day.

Thank you for the honour of being witness to your union.

Lots of cake smash goodness !

Look who has come to play with me yesterday!
I simply love taking photos of this young family (We must be still young Kurt - I'm sure of it!)

Dan and Coop ("the boys") simply HAD to have a photo together! Lol. They are so cute!

Coop and Jack had a fantastic time being firemen! This is Jack's new firetruck! How awesome is it?!

Next..... the cake...

Jack couldn't wait to get his hands on the sweet sticky goodness!

If ever you are going to get a "Cake Smash" photoshoot, I can highly recommend a woolies pavalova! OH MY WORD !
Hahaha it definitely smashed. We had cake flying everywhere. So funny!

Master Jack was so proud of the mess he had created. I even had to wipe the walls!
Good cake smash buddy!

Time to calm down after all this excitement.
What better way to do that than to have a relaxing bubble bath....
Ahh bliss :)

Thank you so much for coming to play yesterday guys! I love spending time with you all (And Dan can't wait to play with Cooper again)!

I can't believe this little family is growing so big!

School holidays are a great time to catch some memories. We can photograph the kiddies in the morning before they get a little nuts (Haha I know my kids are way more sociable in the mornings)!

Minden Retreat

I am so excited to share with the world pictures of the lovely rustic Minden Retreat.
This all-in-one venue is fantastic for your wedding, function, reunion or camp. The retreat is so versatile, and only 25 minutes out of Ipswich on the way to Toowoomba. The retreat has a massive function hall which can seat 120+ (and a great commercial kitchen).
There are hotel style family rooms, dormitory rooms, and a picturesque place to camp. These facilities have a pool, basketball court, under covered BBQ area... the list goes on.

I am so fortunate to have been able to take photos at Minden Retreat. This is the result from our treasure the dress session with Claire and Andrew a few weeks ago.

The amazing Mark from Inkjet Labs was so very helpful in the framing of this amazing photo. (Yes, I did say amazing twice in the one sentence!) I almost cried when I picked up the print from his studio. Thank you Mark!!!

The print just sits so perfectly on the wall at the retreat. It's like it was just meant to be :) (happy sigh!)

I am really looking forward to many more weddings and events out here.

Seriously guys, you have to come out!!!

Sunday 9 March 2014

The magic continues

The magic continued for Claire and Andrew on Friday. We met out at the amazing Minden Retreat and captured some great photos. The sky was threatening to bucket, but it cleared beautifully so we could take the photos - And how amazing did the clouds look!?!

It was really exciting to get all dressed up in their wedding attire and have some fun!

It is reassuring for a bride to know that your second day session, does not have to "trash the dress". You spend so much time effort and money looking for the perfect dress, why would you want to get it dirty?! (Although that is lots of fun too!)

Sparks flew between the two love birds, and I am very fortunate to be able to share this with them both.

Looking for a great all in one venue for your wedding or function? You have to pop over to Mark at http://www.mindenretreat.com.au and say Hi from me.

Time to Party!

I can't believe that this little man is turning one on Thursday!
Wow!
It seems like only a couple of months ago I took his newborn photographs!
This little dude had me in hysterics as we took his One year old photos today. He is so funny.
We started his session playing with balloons in the studio...

Then, the cake came out! Daddy did a fantastic job making the cake this morning. Well done Daddy!!

All was going well until... we touched the cake!!! Hahaha poor little man, he did NOT want this thing touching him!

But we finished the session off with lots of laughs as he had a massive bubble bath! Hooray for clean bubbles!! LOL, literally.

Thank you for playing with me today, and I hope you have a fantastic 1st birthday on Thursday.

Parents and their kids

Photos of parents and their kiddies are really special. Too often we, as parents are hiding behind the camera - and therefore don't exist in family photos. Erin and Chris are lovely, and you can see that the kids are in awe of their parents. Beautiful.

Thank you for sharing your family with me :)

Big weekend of Photographic events

Another big week here at Kate Green Photography!
My gym trainer looked at me this morning and said - you need more rest...
I just laughed... you rest, you rust!
It's all good. :)

This weekend started very early at the Goodlife gym in Ipswich for the 12 week challenge photos. The start photos make most people very nervous (me included)!  4 Hours at the gym taking photos. It is amazing though, to be a part of people's journey. It is humbling to be able to catch the start of the journey for many people. Just by talking with them as we take photos, a small glimpse of their life is shown to me. This is very special, and something that I don't take lightly.

Saturday morning also held a lot of laughs as we froze a moment in time for a lovely family. Even if Dad was a bit anxious about having his photo taken, I wouldn't have known. We relaxed together, and took some great shots that will be treasured memories forever.
I love taking photos of families, and seeing the interaction between the members. Sisters can be a great distraction tool for younger siblings! lol. Well done girls! I love how you look after each other and your little brother.

Lunch time Saturday I headed to Brisbane to help run a photography conference. The "Connections" weekend was run by the PPAQ  (Professional Photographers Association Queensland), of which I am Vice President.  We had so many valuable speakers share with us their trades and knowledge of photography and products. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! Gary from Industry-Partnership, Michelle from The Polished Pixel, Darren Jew, Damian Caniglia, Mark from Inkjet Labs, Nick Lagos, Krystal Wozniak, David Watson. I think I said everyone.... such a blur of information and friendship. The connection between everyone was great. Andrew, you are a great leader, and I am very proud of the way in which you stood up and pulled this all together. Thank you.

Sunday, while I was at the conference, my wonderful husband ran a stall at a wedding expo for me. I am so grateful for his willingness (and patience) for this little business. Some lovely  couples at the expo. I look forward to meeting you in person!

So now, I sit... sit and write about the craziness of the weekend that was! (Are you exhausted yet?)

New baby goodness

I love the hope and joy a new baby brings to the world. Getting your newborn baby photos taken nice and early is a perfect way to capture the memories of your little one. Newborn baby photos are best taken before your new little cherub is 2 weeks old. They can absolutely be done after that, but for the tiny squishy ones that will make your heart just melt, it is best to do quite young so baby sleeps and is settled.
I love photographing the tiny rolls, the tiny toes and fingers....

These tiny pair of toes belong to Master D, just 7 days young. He was a joy to work with !!

Each new baby is  little miracle, and I feel an absolute honour to be asked to capture this cherished moment in time.

Family fun

Well, Can you believe that is is already mid January 2014!
All these things we always put off, saying yep, I'll get to that in a minute.
Come on in and have memories of your family captured before the craziness of the year is.. well.. crazy! Lets catch who you are right now, cause lets face it if we don't, it will be just one more thing that gets pushed to the side and thought, oh - I wish we had more photos together.
Make time.
